GMOA token strike cancelled

The public obtained treatment at the Colombo National Hospital (CNH) yesterday as the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) did not proceed with yesterday's planned 24 hour token strike, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the GMOA decided to abandon the token strike yesterday after discussions with health officials.

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena instructed health officials to provide solutions for the problems presented by the GMOA.

Accordingly, the Health Ministry authorities agreed to provide solutions for the issues presented by the GMOA. Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Ravindra Ruberu assured the public of an uninterrupted service from the Colombo National Hospital', the spokesman said.
