Lumbini Vidyalaya were struggling against D.S. Senanayake College (DSSC) at the end of the first day of their under-19 inter-schools cricket encounter, played at Wijerama Mawatha.

Lumibini were 104 for 7 at close of first day's play against DSSC first innings total of 383 for 8.

Earlier, left hander Uvin Bandara hit 89 runs inclusive of eight boundaries and five sixes to swell the DSSC's total while Kaveen Bandara scored 57 runs inclusive of 10 boundaries and Lasith Abeyratne collected 40 runs, involving in a 106-run partnership with Kaveen.

Left hander Jammika Dharana was the top scorer for Lumbini (46) but right arm medium pacee Sachintha Karunaratne did most of the damage with three for 24.

The match continues today at 9.30.
