No electricity at Kataragama bus stand

Pilgrims in Kataragama are inconvenienced due to the lack of electricity at Kataragama bus stand. This is due to not settling an arrears of Rs.88,000 to the Electricity Board according to Kataragama CTB Depot Manager E. M. Somaweera.

The depot manager said that the bus stand belonged to Kataragama Depot but the former Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Asoka Wickramasinghe with the approval of Uva Chief Minister Sashindra Kumara Rajapaksa took over the bus stand as a Pradeshiya Sabha property and they took the burden of paying monthly electricity bills of the bus stand.
