Health authorities will carry out random inspections countrywide to
ensure the implementation of the National Mosquito Control Week, a
Health Ministry spokesman said.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena will also participate in these
inspections, the spokesman said.
The National Mosquito Control Week which commenced yesterday ends on
January 22.
“The inspection teams will use a card to record the condition of the
specific premises and buildings. Red notices will be issued to mosquito
breeders.
“Once the inspection teams record a dengue mosquito breeding site,
the card holder (owners of the property) should clean the mosquito
breeding site. If not, action will be taken against them at the
post-inspection,” he said.
One MoH division will be divided into seven zones with each zone to
be inspected during a day in the week.
“Health authorities, Armed Forces personnel and others groups will
take part in the inspection process, which will be carried out by teams.
The whole country will be covered during the week. All possible mosquito
breeding sites are to be inspected and notices will be issued to
property owners,” he added. |
