Atlantis:

The lost continent

The ancient island of Crete

The probable disappearance of a highly advanced civilization captured the imagination of people for centuries. The most compelling of these legends were Atlantis and Troy. The ruins of Troy have been found and it is no more a myth or a legend.

But has atlantis been found?

The story of Atlantis appears again and again in books, TV shows and in films.

Archaeologists excavating in the island of Crete are confident that they have found the ruins of the legendary lost continent of Atlantis.

Excavations done, found the fabled palace of Atlantis at the side of Knossos, the ancient capital of Minoan civilization. This palace was three storeys high with 1,300 rooms and circular water ways surrounded the palace. Excavations have revealed a highly developed civilization with multi storeyed houses having toilets with drainage facilities, palaces and cities covered with volcanic ash, wall paintings showing the famous city with concentric water ways, ships, pyramids, as was described by the famous Greek philosopher Plato, a student of Socrates.
