2011 total exports to exceed US $ 11 b

Export sector well poised to surpass target:

The export sector of Sri Lanka is well poised to surpass the revenue target for 2011. According to provincial figures issued by the Export Development Board, the sector has recorded US $ 9.96 billion up to November last year. Sri Lanka recorded exports of merchandizing products to the value of US $ 9.96 billion for the first eleven months with an overall growth rate of 22 percent.

Alliance Finance reaches Rs 6 b milestone in deposits

Alliance Finance has increased its profit after tax by a phenomenal 406% during the six months ended September 2011 compared with September 2010. Alliance Finance AGM - Deposits Champa Nakandala said that the company has witnessed a significant growth last year on all fronts with its deposit base reaching Rs.6 billion which reflects a 24% growth compared to 8.7% in the previous year. The diversified client base has grown to over 10,000 customers during this period.

Havelock City relaunches website: In keeping with the rebranding Havelock City relaunched their website recently. The new optimized website is not only informative but also aims at enhancing interaction between the users and members of the Havelock City sales team. Havelock City, the largest mixed development is currently constructing the two new towers; Layards and Davidson which would contain 225 luxury condominiums including a limited number of penthouses. The first two towers from phase 1, Park and Elibank which includes 226 units are already in occupation. The development is also currently constructing an outstanding clubhouse to offer every conceivable amenity to its residents. The project which will also include Sri Lanka’s largest shopping mall and two office towers spanning over 1.8 million sq. ft. will also begin its construction this year. This luxury development on 17 acres which will comprise eight residential towers with a total of 1080 units upon completion would also claim the largest roof garden; six acres of lush greenery. The project is a joint venture between Overseas Realty; developer,
