All-round performance by Hashan

Left hander Hashan Dumindu hit 83 in 114 deliveries inclusive of 14 boundaries and a six for Gurukula Vidyalaya in their inter-schools cricket encounter against S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia at Mt Lavinia yesterday.

Gurukula Vidyala skipper won the toss and chose to field first. S. Thomas’ declared at 122 for 9 with Sachin Peiris scoring 52 runs. Right arm medium pacee Nalin Perera captured 3 for 31 while Heshan Dumindu showed his skills once again by taking 3 for 15. In reply, Gurukula were 149 for 6 at the end of the first day in 46 overs. Roshan Anuruddha raised the scorecard of Gurukula by 34 runs while Rishane Mathangaweera took 2 for 20.

Pannipitiya Dharmapala College was 68/4 at the end of the first day against Royal College after a delayed start at Pannipitiya.

Shan hits a brilliant ton

Shan Fernando of St. Sebastian’s College scored a brilliant century which consisted of 15 boundaries and three sixes against Thurstan College when the two schools meet in their under-19 inter-schools cricket match.

Marwell Fernando was the other highlight in the Sebs’ batting card, scoring 60 runs to lift their total to 307 for 7 for the first innings. Mahodya Premathilaka captured two for 51 while Tharindu Silva took two for 34.

In reply, Thurstan College scored 206 for 7 with the help of Avishka Peiris (50) and Sajith Gunathilaka (35). Shan Fernando, Anjana Perera and Pramoth Tharindu bagged two wickets each in the drawn game.
