'Legal provision serves temple a lot'

The Wewurukannala Sacred Place Act which was introduced by President Mahinda Rajapaksa has done a remarkable change in the history of the Wewurukannala Raja Maha Viharaya, said Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma.

The Minister was participating in a pinkama to mark the gold plating (repainting) of the mosaics of the Buddha statue at the Raja Maha Viharaya, Dickwella recently. The pinkama was held under the patronage of Viharadhipati Ven Dickwelle Tissa Nayake Thera.

Minister Alahapperuma said all Viharadhipathi Theras have worked for the betterment of the Viharaya. Gold plating of the mosaics of the Buddha statue will be completed before the end of May.

The gold plated statue will be re-opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the Vesak Poya day.
