Five suspects aged between 22 and 25
were arrested with a large sum of foreign currency and a
stock of gold bars at the Bandaranaike International Airport
yesterday. The suspects had over Rs.5.5 million in foreign
currency and gold bars worth around Rs.2 million. The
suspects were trying to smuggle them to Chennai, India.
Customs officers said the money and the gold bars were
covered with aluminum foil and hidden in their baggage.

P.M.S.Udaya Kantha, Wimal Piyasumana, and K.L.D.Malwita,

J.A.D.N.Ranasinghe, P.G.Gunawardena, Deema Ranaweera and
Dedunu Perera are investigating on the instructions of
