Accidents claim four

Four people died in road accidents in several parts of the island during the past several days. The victims are from Ambalammulla, Giriulla, Kadugannawa and Katugastota.

A men died when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a concrete post at Ambalammulla on the Colombo-Seeduwa road.

The victim was identified as Jayanath Lanka de Silva, 31, of Kagathara.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a pedestrian died when a tipper knocked him down while walking along Giriulla-Pasyala the road. The body lying at the Mirigama Hospital mortuary has not been identified yet. Another person died in a lorry-motorcycle collision at Nayelwatte Junction. The victim has been identified as Don Chandana Kumara, 29, of Ukuwela-Matale area.

Kumara Samaraweera of Ukuwela died on the spot when his motorcycle crashed into a lorry at Wattegama.

The lorry driver was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, a body was found by Police at the Padiyathalawa temple. The deceased has been identified as Herath Mudiyanselage Piyadasa of Padiyathalawa area.

The Dehiattakandiya Magistrate ordered an investigation into the death.
