"There is no drug shortage in the country. All drugs are freely
available at all state hospitals and funds have been provided for the
purchase of drugs. If there is a drug shortage in any hospital, it would
be artificially created and hospital directors are responsible for such
drug shortages," Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
Minister Sirisena said that the required types of drugs are available
for all state hospitals.
The minister said there is no shortage and there are funds available
to purchase any amount of drugs at any time. There is no shortage of
drugs and funds in the country. The recent drug shortage reported from
Anuradhapura Teaching hospital was created by a lack of coordination
between relevant officials and sections. The matter has now been solved. |
