Vidyalians beat Asokians

Moratu Vidyalaya beat Asoka Vidyalaya, Colombo by nine wickets in their inter-schools Under-19 cricket match played at Moratuwa.

Vidyalians batting first declared at 261 for 7 with three half centuries coming off the bats of Ishan Peiris (77), Savinda Maduranga (64) and Dushan Sulakshana (50). In reply visitors were bundled out for 135 runs with Nalin Kaushalya scoring 65 runs and Iresh Chamara claiming 5 for 63. Following on, Asoka Vidyalaya were all out for 151 with Navin Dilshan making the top score of 66 with Harsha Devinda taking 4 for 37.

Set to make 26 runs for an outright victory, Vidyalians scored the required score for the loss of one wicket.

Moratu Vidyalaya: 261/7 decl (Ishan Peiris 77, Savinda Maduranga 64, Dushan Sulakshana 50, Amila Udara 3/37) and 26/1.

Asoka Vidyalaya: 135 (Nalin Kaushalya 65, Iresh Chamara 5/63, Harsha Devinda 2/28) and 151 (Navin Dilshan 66, Harsha Devinda 4/37, Zafras Preena 2/28).
