Riders killed
A man who was seriously injured when his bike skidded off the road
and crashed into an electrical pile at Palugaswala on the
Negombo-Dagonna main road, succumbed to his injuries on Monday at the
Negombo hospital. The deceased had been identified as R M H Dushan
Lankathilaka of Giribawa. Negombo Police are investigating.

Another motorcyclist who had been severely injured when his motorbike
collided head-on with a three-wheeler at Pindeniya in Kotiyakumbura,
died at the Colombo National Hospital on January 1. Police said that the
victim W A C Susantha was a resident of Arukgammana. The three-wheeler
driver has been released on bail when produced before Ruwanwella
Magistrate.
Three-wheeler driver killed in collision
A lorry - three-wheeler collision at Athuruwella junction on the
Giriulla- Kegalla road on Tuesday resulted in the death of the
three-wheeler driver on admission to Dambadeniya hospital. The victim
has been identified as W Bandu Wickrama of Rathmalgahawewa,
Kahatagasdigiliya. Giriulla Police are investigating.

Body found near rail crossing
A body of a man was found lying near a railway crossing in Bentota on
Tuesday. Bentota Police said that the victim who was about 50 years old
was 166 cm tall. He was wearing a short sleeved white banyan and striped
sarong. Police are investigating to find out his identity. The body is
lying at the Nagoda hospital morgue.

Body recovered on wayside
Kotmale Police found a body of a man at Garadiella on the Nuwara
Eliya-Gampola main road yesterday. Police said that the victim had
sustained neck injuries. He was wearing grey trousers and a white shirt.
Kotmale Police are investigating.

Treasure hunters arrested
Five treasure hunters were arrested at Omakdle Estate, Dalukgaswela
on Tuesday by the Kadugannawa Police. Police raided the place they had
been excavating and arrested two of the suspects and later nabbed
another three who had escaped at the time of the raid. They were to be
produced before the Kandy magistrate.
