Plan to release book of folk poems, CD

The National Heritage Ministry has taken action to collect and publish non-popularised folk poems which originated in the Nuwarakalaviya-Anuradhapura area, National Heritage Ministry Additional Secretary Vijitha Nanda Kumara said.

'The ministry also plans to release a CD of folk music along with the book of poems,' he said.

'As of now the National Heritage Ministry has so far collected around 50 folk poems.

'The folk poems consist of chena poems, family poems, love poems and kurakkan poems,' he said.

"People of the older vintage will lend their voices for the recording of the folk music CD which will be recorded at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation Rajarata Service Studio in Anuradhapura,' he said.
