Project to manufacture compost

The Sainthamaruthu Agriculture Extension office has implemented a project to manufacture compost fertiliser.

According to Ampara district deputy Director of Agriculture A R A Latheef, the proposed compost manufacturing project has currently been stared at Sainthamaruthu.

Garbage, waste and hard waste matter collected from Sainthamaruthu and Maligaikadu areas are to be recycled and converted into compost in the Agriculture Extension centre.

Sainthamaruthu divisional secretariat area is at predominantly agriculture region and there is a high demand for carbonic manure among the paddy farmers and home gardening farmers in the area.

The public toilet in the Kalmunai bus stand and private bus stand managed by the Kalmunai municipal council area has no lights.
