Health certificates to eating house employees

The Anuradhapura District Divisional Health Office will launch a new programme to issue a medical certificate to all hotel and bakery workers in Anuradhapura.

This programme is to be launched islandwide at provincial level and will be inaugurated in the Anuradhapura district. Under this programme, persons with skin diseases, tuberculosis and typhoid will be prohibited from working in hotels, bakeries and other eateries supplying food items to the public, said Anuradhapura District Health Office Foods and Medicine supervisor Ananda Weragoda. He said that they will carry out complete medical tests for food suppliers with the aim of providing healthy and quality food items to the public. "An awareness programme will be carried out for food suppliers and owners of bakeries and eating houses.

"They should keep the certificate with them for clearance," he added.

The Health Department had organized this programme in collaboration with the Anuradhapura District Health Office.

Medical certificates are to be issued to food suppliers in Anuradhapura before the end of this year.
