The Navy rescued an Indian fisherman whose boat had run aground in Sri Lankan waters, north-east of Delft on December 24. He was handed over to the authorities for legal formalities. The fishing boat named Ratta had left the Jagathapatnam Fishery Harbour in Tamil Nadu on December 22, and run aground whilst poaching in Sri Lankan waters closer to the rocky shoreline off Delft. The boat’s propeller shaft had been damaged after hitting rocks in the rough seas. Navy personnel repaired the damaged boat after bringing it ashore. Courtesy: Navy


Brawl at Tangalle hotel:

Two surrender to Police

Two suspects connected to the alleged killing of a foreigner at a hotel in Tangalle on Saturday night, surrendered to the Tangalle Police. One suspect is from Tangalle and the other from Kottawa. They are 27 and 18 years, the Police said. A politician affiliated to a local authority in Tangalle is also allegedly involved in the incident, the Police said.
