SL, SA to exchange construction know-how

'The South African and Sri Lankan governments have agreed to exchange
knowledge, technology and cooperation in the construction field,'
Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities
Minister Wimal Weerawansa said after a discussion held with South
African High Commissioner Geoffrey Quinton Doidge at the ministry
premises recently.
According to the High Commissioner, a large number of South African
investors are willing to invest in the construction field in Sri Lanka
with the peaceful situation in the country and the availability of raw
materials .
"South Africa has low cost wooden housing technology' he said.
'So they are ready to introduce these technologies to Sri Lanka.
According to the High Commissioner, South African technicians are also
keen to study Sri Lankan construction technology as Sri Lanka has very
attractive construction methods.
"Many countries are willing to invest in Sri Lanka due to the
prevailing peaceful situation. It is necessary to study the South
African technology before introducing it to Sri Lanka, the minister
said. |
