Colombo Night Races to light up the city

Colombo is all set to host a night full of thrilling racing action and entertainment when the Colombo Night Race 2011 revs up into action this evening.

The timing of the motorcar events were held last night under floodlights on the newly laid tarmac in the heart of Colombo and it is definitely going to be a night that spectators will remember for the rest of their lives.

The action will be provided by the local and foreign motor stars at the inaugural version of the Colombo Night Race which starts opposite Galadari Hotel just next to the picturesque Galle Face Green. The racing events will see a large number of competitors in action. The SLGT 3500 CC event which is regarded as the most thrilling motorcar event in the local scene, will see 25 competitors in action, signifying the massive interest of the local drivers. There will be international participants too and that includes Sri Lanka's premier international driver Dilantha Malahamuwa, giving the Lankan fans an opportunity to experience something special. There will be a variety of cars on display like the Lamborghini Diablo, Mosler MT900, Aston Martin, Porsche 911 Carrera along with Subaru Impreza STI, Mitsubishi Evo, Ford Laser, Nissan March, Honda Civic SIR the world famous Morris Mini Minor and Formula Ford.

The Colombo Night Races are conducted by the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports Association (SLAS) which is the governing body of motor sports in Sri Lanka along with the Federation of Motorcycle Sports in Sri Lanka (FMSSL) plus member racing clubs and the Red Cherry Entertainment, Tharunyata Hetak organization and Carlton Sports Network.
