'Social security scheme for Lankans employed in S Arabia'
Foreign Employment and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera said yesterday
that a social security scheme will be formulated for Sri Lankans
employed in Saudi Arabia. He said that diplomatic discussions are
progressing in this regard between the two countries to commence the
scheme next year.
The minister said that the social security scheme is implemented by
the Korean government for Sri Lankans.
He added that the government is taking measures to make all other
countries implement this scheme for Sri Lankans employed in those
countries.
This scheme will provide more facilities going beyond the insurance
schemes and a pension. Minister Perera made this observation in response
to a special statement made by DNA Parliamentarian Anura Kumara
Dissanayake. |
