The Central Bank is ready to provide it's fullest cooperation to
ensure food security in Sri Lanka, said Central Bank Governor Ajith
Nivad Cabral participating as the chief guest at the award ceremony of
livestock development instructors who performed well in 2010. It was
held at the Centre for Banking.
The governor said food security is essential for a country. Some
countries, especially middle eastern countries, are searching for food
resources for a long period as they have realized that although they
have all other resources they cannot do without food. "President Mahinda
Rajapaksa has given priority for food production in the Mahinda
Chinthana policy," he said.
The governor also said climate change creates a lot of problems
relating to food security. Under the prevailing crisis situation in the
world it is necessary to reach food security as soon as possible.
The ceremony was organized by the Central Bank to award certificates
and incentives for livestock development instructors in appreciation of
their performance under the Agro- Livestock Loan Scheme. |
