SLTB must continue profit making streak - Welgama
The mere recording of a profit by the SLTB recently is useless unless
efforts are made to continue this trend without a break by limiting its
expenditure, said Transport Minister Kumara Welgama. He was presiding
over a progress review meeting of 15 SLTB depots in Wayamba at the SLTB
headquarters, Narahenpita on Tuesday.
The minister who noted that income levels of ceratin depots had
dropped sharply with a depletion in fleet operations, said depot
managers should be responsible for this situation which could not he
allowed to continue.
Certain SLTB depots faced financial difficulties and deterioration of
services due to incompetence and inefficiency of the depot managers.
The minister who said that the ministry had already identified the
inefficient depot managers, said the ministry would give them a time
limit of one month to effect a financial turn around in their depots
before taking action to remove them from their posts and replace them
with more efficient people.
SLTB Chairman M.D. Bandusena, Vice Chairman L.A. Wimalaratne and SLTB
officials were also present.
