Although education and health facilities are provided at a price in
other countries, Sri Lanka is the only country which provides them free
of charge to its people.
As each child has been offered an opportunity to pursue the type of
education preferred by them under the Mahinda Chinthana, it is the duty
of both parents and teachers to provide a sound education to children,
said Minor Export Crops Promotion Minister Reginald Cooray.
He said so addressing the Biennial Prize day meeting of the Beruwala
Wisdom International College held at the Jabir Hajiar Memorial Hall of
the Beruwala Al-Humaisara National School recently.
Minister Cooray said, "education is the greatest gift that parents
and elders could bestow on their children."
If children are given the opportunity to enter the business
profession with a good education, they will gain the strength and
ability to keep pace with the developing world and move forward towards
greater prosperity.
Minister Cooray said that English language has become a global
language today.
Therefore, children should learn English well if they wanted to
prosper in life.
He said Mahinda Chinthana has provided children with opportunities to
study the English langauge too.
"I am happy about the progress achieved by Wisdom International
College in education and other aspects. I am always ready to provide it
with all the necessary assistance and support at all times," the
minister said.
