The Justice Ministry has taken measures to amend several Acts with
the objective of enhancing the quality of justice in Sri Lanka, said
Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem.
Addressing the media at the ministry yesterday, he said under this
procedure, the ministry will amend the Criminal Procedure Code Act,
Civil Procedure Code Act, Computer Crime and Criminal Procedure Code Act
and Children and Young Persons Act after Cabinet approval.
He said that an International Arbitration Centre will be established
in Colombo to solve and settle local and international commercial
disputes.
This will be temporarily established at the World Trade Centre in
Colombo.
"The present courts complex will be shifted to another location close
to the ministry premises. After this is done, the International
Arbitration Centre will be established in the present court complex
building. A museum, judges and lawyers training centre will also be
established at the present court complex," Hakeem said.
Justice Ministry Secretary Suhada Gamlath said that the ministry
plans to introduce separate methods to solve court cases with claims
below Rs 5 million with Australian government support.
