Rankothge leaves for Manila

One of the leading rugby referees in Sri Lanka left to officiate in
the Asian Rugby Football Union's Under 20 rugby tournament in Manila,
Phillippines from December 14 to 17.
Aruna Rankothge is an old boy of St. Sylvester's College, Kandy,
where he excelled as a flanker and later coached his alma mater with
great success guiding them to the Division one of the schools rugby
tournament.
He is presently a junior coach at Trinity College. He also
represented Kandy Sports Club at rugby. Rankothge is a member of the
elite panel of the rugby referees of the Asian Rugby Football Union and
has experience in officiating in rugby matches played in India,
Pakistan, China, Phillipines, Malaysia, Kazakhastan, Singapore, Dubai,
Abu Dhabi, Arabian Gulf, Honkong, and Japan, making him one of the most
experienced rugby referees in the country.
Rankothge is employed as an Executive in the Human Resources
Department of Amaya Hotel, Kandy, and his employers have been always
supportive of his engagements in the field of rugby and have given the
necessary leave to pursue same for which act he is ever so grateful.
