Privilege matter directed to IGP - Speaker

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday said in Parliament that he would direct the privilege matter raised by DNA MP Ajith Kumara to the IGP, since every MP has a right to have access to information.

He made this comment paying attention to a privilege question raised by DNA MP Ajith Kumara stating that he was not granted permission to enter the Manik farm camp in Settikulam, Vavuniya.

Ajith Kumara MP stated that he was not allowed to enter the camp without the permission of the Defence Ministry, even through he was previously informed by the Resettlement Ministry that no such permission would be require. The MP stated that this was a breach of his privileges as an MP.
