Rajpal Abeynayake attack:
Suspect granted bail
Attorney Asoka Samararatne, the suspect in the
alleged attack of Lakbimanews Editor Rajpal Abeynayake, yesterday
appeared before Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District
Judge Lanka Jayaratne. Judge Jayaratne granting bail directed
Attorney Samararatne to make a statement to the Kollupitiya Police,
which is conducting investigations into the complaint made by
Abeynayake.

Pakistan compelled to re-visit national security paradigm
Pakistan's Parliamentary Committee on National
Security met under the chairmanship of Senator Raza Rabbani which
was attended by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani along with
Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Interior, Kashmir Affairs and
Gilgit-Baltistan, Information and Broadcasting, and senior officials
of the relevant ministries.

Navy celebrates anniversary on grand scale
The Sri Lanka Navy celebrates its 61st
Anniversary with a number of religious and social functions to mark
the historic occasion. Naval ceremonies are scheduled to be held in
keeping with the traditions and customs of the Navy to coincide the
Navy Day, which falls today.
