First Tamil business news site launched

Global businesses news media passes a milestone in Sri Lanka with the launch of the world's first Tamil Language business news website, Business News Tamil (BNT).

Launched by Sri Lankan Journalist and PR consultant, Chandrasekar, the website is aimed to bridge the global deficit of a Tamil news website with a business focus.

Prior to the launch of BNT there was no online business news source for the Tamil audience, depriving those who were primarily literate in Tamil from having access to online business news of a high caliber.

Therefore, the introduction of the website is a major step in online news media for Tamil readers and a game changer in the way in which the Tamil audience will be able to access news.

Managing editor, Chandrasekar, said "The Tamil business news media still requires development to reach the standard of English and Sinhala news. As a Tamil journalist, one of the reasons why I decided to launch this website is to contribute to the evolution of the business news reporting to the Tamil audience."

He said, "This website elevates Tamil business media in two ways: on one hand we are aiming to give our readers more detailed and more objective news than ever before, and on the second we also want to revolutionize the way in which the Tamil business community connects with its news by taking it online."

Objectivity, is something that Chandrasekar also feels has been lacking from the news media that the Tamil Diaspora has been exposed to.

In Chandrasekar's opinion the Tamil Diaspora is still skeptical of the economic rise that Sri Lanka has seen follow the end of its civil war, "If the Tamil business community is to have their confidence restored, and gain true insights into economic trends in Sri Lanka, objective reporting of business news is vital.

Only through this can the Tamil literate businessman make informed decisions to help him grow his business.
