Editor’s attacker skips inquiry

The Kollupitiya Police yesterday informed Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lanka Jayaratne, all facts relating to the assault on Chief Editor of Lakbimanews and senior lawyer Rajpal Abeynayake, at a five star hotel on Saturday.

According to Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana, the Police had told court that the suspect did not comply with the Police order to come to the police station for an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, Rajpal Abeynayake when contacted by the Daily News, yesterday said that he was still under medical care at the Colombo National Hospital.

Abeynayake said that the hospital authorities informed him that several medical tests need to be carried out.
