Several tanks being renovated

Irrigation and water Resources Management Deputy Minister W B Ekanayake yesterday stated that the renovation of significant water tanks in Anuradhapura, including Nuwara Wewa and Thisawewa, commenced after 63 years under this government.

The deputy minister made this observation joining the Committee Stage debate on the Appropriation Bill under the Finance Head of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Ministry.

The Deputy Minister further stated that the Nachchiduwa tank, Huruluwewa tank and several tanks are also being renovated under this project.

He also stated that the sediment in the tanks under Mahaweli projects was also removed after 35 years.
