Lake Gregory to be developed

Lake Gregory in Nuwara Eliya which is a major tourist destination is to be developed by introducing house boats through a BoI project carried out by Kerala entrepreneurs. One boat could accommodate around hundred tourists.

According to Saju Chacko and Jaison Panikulangara, the promoters of this pioneer project, they have incorporated a private limited company in Sri Lanka namely M/S Saj House Boat Builders and Operators to carry out this task.

They have been operating house boats successfully in Alleppey a coastal town area in Kerala.

The promoters have identified potential water bodies for the house boat operation. Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya is the initial water body identified for the purpose.

Puttalam lagoon in Wayamba is identified for the second phase of the project to manufacture and sell house boats.
