'No plans to acquire Trincomalee coastal lands'

Economic Development Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena yesterday stated that the government has no plans to acquire lands belonging to the people on the coastal belt in Trincomalee.

He made this observation in response to a question for oral answers raised by UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana.

The MP queried if minister was aware that the government had a plan to acquire lands belonging to the people residing on the coastal belt in the Trincomalee district for the purpose of constructing hotels.

The deputy minister answered that the government had no such plans.
