Popular glamour world and business personality and Sudharma
Nethicumara who has proved her commitment and dedication to arts during
the past few years, is now joining hands with Shashi Weerawansa
(Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s wife) in dishing out a novel television
experience to the local television audience.
Sudharma who played a vital role as a member of the three-S
combination with Sangeetha and Shereen, became more popular as the
producer of the Ganga Addara tele series.
Recently she embarked on another significant creation called Baryawo
(Wives). It’s the story about all categories of wives of this country,
and of course linked to their husbands.

Shashi Weerawansa has written the story plot for Baryawo which is to
be telecast on Rupavahini soon. She also wrote the theme song for
Nirosha Virajini to the melody of Navaratne Gamage. Nimal Mendis is the
music director of the tele drama.
“According to Buddhism wives are classified under seven categories.
This tele series will talk about these seven types. Saranga Mendis will
direct this 100-episode tele drama but it is not a mega though it will
be telecast daily. It will come with a message to society and every
woman will in some way relate to the story.
This is going to be a new experience to the television audiences. It
is not a tele drama, but a tele cinema creation using the HD format. I
am also serving the project as a co-director because I am keen to study
the subject. As wives, I think we have the right to make such a creation
for the benefit of society. Our aim is to create a society with people
who are caring and loving be it, parents, husbands and wives or
children. This story caters to all classes in society. My ultimate
intention is not to make profits but to ensure a quality product that
will reach the hearts of all the masses,” said Sudharma.
Baryawo boasts of a talented star cast including Jeevan Kumaratunga,
Dilhani Ekanayake, Sabeetha Perera, Lucky Dias, Duleeka Marapana, Dulani
Anuradha, Bimal Jayakody, Menaka Rajapaksa, Nehara Peiris, Kumara
Thirimadura and others.
The muhurath ceremony of the tele drama was held at the Continental
Hotel in Colombo.
