Let’s Grow withdraws from Somawathi

Let’s Grow, a subsidiary of the Company DOLE of the USA, which has been carrying out a banana cultivation project utilizing 11,600 acres of the Somawathi National Park, has agreed with the Environment Conservation Trust and Environment Foundation Ltd to remove their project from the Somawathi National Park site, Environment Conservation Trust director, Sajeewa Chamikara said.

DOLE of USA, had requested Let’s Grow to remove the banana cultivation project from the site, after it was pointed out that, the cultivation is carried out in the Somawathi National Park. Environment Conservation Trust and the Environment Foundation LTD workers got together to remove the banana growing project from this site.

They agreed to remove the equipment and other implements, within two weeks from the site of the Somawathi National Park, Chamikara said.
