Galle Dialogue focuses on maritime security concerns

The International Maritime Security Conference, Galle Dialogue 2011, will be held today at Light House Hotel, Galle aiming to create a forum to discuss and exchange views on regional maritime security concerns.

The event will be organised by the Sri Lanka Navy under the aegis of the Defence Ministry.

A significant number of foreign and local experts will participate in the event. Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session.

The welcome remarks will be made by Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake.

The participants are expected to share their views at the two-day dialogue held under the theme ‘Challenges and Strategic Cooperation for Indian Ocean Maritime Concerns’.
