HRMI offers EDEXCEL BTEC Post Graduate Strategic Management Diploma
For the first time in Sri Lanka, EDEXCEL BTEC Level 7 Post Graduate
Professional Qualification ‘Diploma in Strategic Management and
Leadership’ has been launched by the Human Resource Management Institute
(HRMI). This has been defined by the UK’s Qualifications and Credit
Framework (QCF) as a Post Graduate Professional Qualification equivalent
to the first year of a two year Masters Degree enabling the holders to
pursue a MBA with exemptions.
Commenting on this programme, HRMI Director, Gihan Talgodapitiya
described this qualification as an ideal programme to equip Senior and
Middle Managers to go beyond functional management and take-up
top-management responsibilities. It is also an interesting course of
studies for senior military officers planning to move into corporate
sector as the course content provides detailed insights into the role of
a Senior Manager and CEO.
The curriculum of the Strategic Management and Leadership Post
Graduate course includes the complete spectrum of subjects essential to
give a comprehensive knowledge base at senior management level. It
includes strategic planning, strategic change management, strategic
marketing management, strategic human resource management, strategic
supply chain management and logistics, creative and innovative
management, strategic management and leadership and, professional
development for strategic managers. The assessment criteria involves
assignments, projects and case analysis, which Edexcel believes is a
better form of assessment at senior management level compared to the
traditional examination method.
The Human Resource Management Institute (HRMI) is one of the fastest
growing EDEXCEL centres which offers several Post Graduate
Qualifications and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) for Advanced Level
Qualified students to pursue a degree qualification. The Institute’s

reported that more than 100,000 students were successful in applying to
higher education after studying for BTEC qualifications. The figures
show that admissions to UK universities by BTEC students have risen 30%
year-on-year. Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA - UK) research
has revealed that 95 percent of higher education institutions accept
BTEC students, and more than 50% of 20- to 30-year-olds going on to
higher education are BTEC students.
The Human Resource Management Institute offers comprehensive coaching
to ensure that its students are well-equipped to fulfil the challenging
standards of the Edexcel HND. Higher National Diploma in Human Resource
Management at HRMI will take two years as it is equivalent to the first
and second years of a Bachelor’s Degree programme. Completion of the
Edexcel HND will open a convenient pathway to HRMI students to obtain a
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees whilst completing the entire course of
