New cancer medical complex to cost Rs 1,450 million

The Health Ministry has decided to establish a new medical complex
for cancer treatment attached to the Maharagama National Cancer
Institute with the financial assistance of one of the best business
institutions in London, Ahamad Tea Group, said a Health Ministry
Spokesman.

It is estimated that Rs.1450 million will be spent for the
construction of this complex. The Ahamad Tea Group has agreed to spend
Rs. 850 million and the rest will be provided by the government.
The new complex which will be housed in a seven storey building will
be named as Razavi Medical Complex.
The new cancer treatment building complex will have many facilities,
such as, 375 beds for adult patients, five operating theatres, 12
surgical ICU beds, 12 ICU beds, Day Chemotherapy Unit, Indoor and Out
Door Pharmacies, 19 paying beds, Neutropenic ward for children, Laundry
and sterialization department, Patient's cantees on each floor,
consultants offices, blood transport shooting facility between Razavi
medical complex and pathology building, miscellaneous general amenities
such as consultants rooms, TV rooms, praying rooms. The decision to
build this medical complex was taken at a meeting held recently at the
ministry under the patronage of Health Minister Maithipala Sirisena.
