Sets fastest time in qualifying:

Sajaad dominates the Colombo streets for EZY Racing

The much looked forward Colombo Drag Race, organized by the CMSC along with Carlton Sports Network, was given an octane boost when EZY Racer Sajaad Zuhair, driving his EZY Honda ER6 outperformed every competitor in his class as he skilfully drove the eye catching EZY Racing car to win every one of his race rounds.

With Sajaad representing EZY Racing as the sole driver in this prestigious event, he ensured that he kept Sri Lanka's foremost motor racing team right in the forefront from the word go, when he set the fastest timing in the 1600 CC class. The Auto Force prepared car, which also won the recently concluded race at the Pannala Circuit, has been able to dominate its class with strong performances lately.

Good fight

Sajaad who initially beat Ushan De Silva, was given a good fight in the Semi Finals by Romesh Rajakulendran. On the second semi final, Emdad Hussain, who was a definite favourite to go to the finals, especially after his thrilling drive where he beat Ishraq Wahab, was given a shock by Fathab Fasal, who beat Emdad in the 375 meter stretch.

Going into the final, all eyes were on giant killer Fathab, as all spectators eagerly awaited to see if he could beat "Iceman" Sajaad Zuhair. Sajaad's 12 years of race experience however got the better of Fathab when Sajaad managed to get an exceptional start to finish an effortless win for EZY Racing. "It's gratifying to note that the ER6 is the fastest 1600cc car in the country. There were quite a lot of very well prepared cars out there on the track and we knew we had to be precise in our performance if we were to be competitive with these cars that are primarily prepared to drag. Therefore it was very encouraging when we were able to set the fastest time for the day during the qualifying run in the morning." said a jubilant Sajaad after the race.

Commitment

Sajaad went onto say that the commitment shown by the team to achieve the necessary success, the meticulousness shown by Auto Force in preparing the car, the information access provided by AOC who were the display partners of the team and all other contributions from every other partner, was what helped the team to end the season on a strong note.

EZY Racing, who are without doubt Sri Lanka's most dominant motor racing team have managed to bring home some strong results in the recent races. Commenting on his team's performance, Shafraz Hamzadeen, MD/CEO and Team Principal of EZY Racing said" it was definitely a perfect weekend for us. All of us know very well that these highly prepared road cars can be much faster than the race cars as race cars have a limitation in modification whereas road cars do not have an upper level.

Therefore this win has a greater significance as it shows how well prepared our race cars are. Sajaad is a driver who needs little motivation. In the past he has shown that he can compete against himself to generate greater results and this is the key factor that differentiates good drivers as opposed to great ones.

When we set the fastest timing in the very first run in the morning, all of us knew that we could take the win home if were able to hold concentration throughout. Sajaad did this impeccably".

Zakie Ismail, of TiC (Tuned i Chips), the tuning partner of EZY Racing also had a successful weekend when his Auto Force Prepared car, tuned by TiC dominated both the classes he represented by winning the 2200 cc 2wheel drive class.

"The fact that our tuning partner was also able to dominate the days proceedings shows that we have the right partnerships. TiC has been instrumental in tuning our cars for all our wins and their ability to demonstrate their capabilities in their own car, further demonstrates the strength of our partnership" said Hamzadeen. With the 2011 season having only one more race to conclude, Hamzadeen commented " We are now focusing on preparing our cars and the team for the 2012 season. We hope to test the cars out during the Colombo Night Race which would without doubt be a signature event. This would give us a very good indication as to how strong we will be in 2012".

EZY Racing plans on having a stream of events starting from road shows leading up to the races from which they expect to add more followers to their 10,000 plus fan base.
