Air India wins WTA award
Air India was presented Asia's leading Airline in Economy Class and
India's leading Airline at the "World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia
Gala Ceremony 2011" held at Hotel Dusit Thani, Bangkok recently. The
nominees for "Asia's leading Airline "included leading airlines such as
Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines.
Air India's Country Manager at Thailand, R Mansukhani received the
award on behalf of Air India, attended by representatives from over 30
countries. Known as the "Oscars" of the Travel Industry, the awards
ceremony held at Bangkok was co-hosted under the patronage of the
Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau
and BBC World News.
Air India operates to 66 domestic destinations and has a network of
33 international destinations with a fleet comprising of Airbus A319,
A320, A310, A330 Boeing B-737 800, B-777 apart from ATR - 42 and CRJ
aircraft.
Air India awarded Airline MRO and Best Engine MRO
Air India, the country's national carrier, has been adjudged as the
Best Airline MRO in India and Best Engine MRO in India. The two
prestigious awards were conferred on the company at a function organized
by India Aviation and Stat Trade Times at India's first international
exhibition and conference on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO),
held in Mumbai recently.
"We have an unenviable record of servicing all types of aircraft,
cargo and passenger, in the country," said a company spokesperson while
emphasizing the lead role that Air India's MRO facility would play in
the growing Rs 1.17 billion crore MRO market. Air India was selected for
the two awards by a jury consisting of experts including the editorial
board of Indian aviation.
The jury, selected Air India for the Best Airline MRO in India, the
company has "excelled in the entire range of services that are provided
by an MRO facility. Air India has ensured maximum availability of
airworthy aircraft without compromising on safety.
The airline has extended high technical dispatch reliability,
operating at an optimum cost in a competitive environment. Air India is
the only Indian airline to have received EASA certification".
The second award "Best Engine MRO" in India was in honour of Air
India for its "significant contribution towards servicing and overseeing
the critical maintenance of aircraft engines." Air India, given the
delicate and crucial nature of the task, has striven steadily in
ensuring the highest standards of service and qualitative checks. The
awards were received by Executive Directors (Engineering) Air India, M N
Rajgopal and S. Rotkar, respectively.
Air India was also presented the Reader's Digest Trusted Brand Gold
Award for the fifth consecutive year in 2010. |
