Three star hotel project for Dikwella

The Board of Investment and the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority have granted preliminary approval for a three star hotel project that is coming up in Batheegama Village, Dikwella in Matara District. This unique hotel that is coming up in a 4 1/2 acre land in Dikwella has a fine beach and pleasant surroundings.

The main investor for this project is Robert Hollmann, a product of the prestigious Hotel School in Vienna, Austria.

He is also a qualified graduate in hotel management and runs his own state-of-the-art boutique hotel in Vienna.

The total investment for the Dikwella hotel project is US $ 3.1 million.

The proposed hotel will have 15 Villas and each villa will have two rooms with attached toilets. The investor has launched his own company in Sri Lanka under the name and style UTMT resort (Pvt) Ltd and its General Manager is Bernhard Fisher, a German national, who has promoted a lot of foreign investments for the benefit of Sri Lanka.

The investor and the UTMT resort (Pvt) Ltd has retained the services of U.E. Perera, a well-known travel professional, as the Consultant to the whole project. Perera is of the view, that the entry of Robert Hollman to the tourism industry in Sri Lanka, can be considered as a tremendous victory. Sri Lanka tourism has gained by taking into consideration his prestigious profile and career achievements.

Perera further said that connected to the proposed hotel project several community development programmes are in the offing, including a fully fledged Montessori for the benefit of the children of the local community. Further, when the project is geared for operation, it will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for a lot of unemployed youth in the area.

The political authority for Southern Province, Youth Affairs Minister Dulles Alahapperuma has welcomed this project and has asked all stakeholders to extend their fullest cooperation for the complete success of this valuable venture.
