Revamp for Rupavahini

Jathika Rupavahini, a very much popular channel among Sri Lankans,
has been offering quite a lot to the local audience. The channel
presents its programmes in an attractive manner. To enhance the existing
standards, Rupavahini has reformed its programmes since September. It is
called Binara Peraliya.

The purpose is to improve the correct language usage, protect
cultural values, prioritize national goals and to give entertainment in
an education-based way, said Rupavahini Chairperson Mohan Samaranayaka.
Binara Peraliya introduces new programmes. Sanda Ranga Mala and Sanda
Diya Dothak on Tuesdays at 10.20 pm for music lovers, Vyaparika Lokaya
on weekdays at 2 pm for business crowd and Ayubowan programme under four
different themes have been reshaped. A new monthly programme called
Dharana, focusing on literature, will be introduced too telecast on
Sundays at 7.30 pm. Aruma Puduma Roda Hathara is another new programme.
Weekly music chart, Ridi Tharaka, is telecast on Sundays at 11 am.
Targetting youth and children, the national channel has produced a
number of programmes. Batahira Ahasa, telecast on weekdays from 3 to 4
pm, is totally for youth. Sekili Ruu Karaliya is the eye catching
cartoon series which attracts kids on weekdays at 4 pm. The adventurous
science fiction subtitled in Sinhala, Samuduru Suvisariya, telecasts
from September 1 on weekdays at 6 pm. A religious programme called Daham
Sithuwili focusing on Buddhist and Christian thoughts is telecast
everyday at 5.35 am.
The news presentation mode has also been changed and new educational
programmes focusing on GCE Ordinary Level Examination and Grade Five
scholarship Examination have been introduced.
The channel offers new teledramas, Dhuli Pintharu directed by
Santhusa Liyanage and Isiwara Ranakeli directed by Vimalarathna
Adhikari. Dhuli Pintharu is based on the famous novel Les Miserable by
Victor Hugo.
It is full of humanity, emotions and vivid characters which produce a
great out come on the audience Anoma Jinadari, Chamila Peiris, Jayani
Senanayake, Priyankara Rathnayake are the main figures. Isiwara Rankeli
is about Angam Gurukula (a school of martial art) who are an example of
co-existing social system in historic Sri Lanka.
Jagath Chamila, Himali Siriwardene, Buddadasa Vithanachchi and
Somadasa Sooriyarachchi are playing the major roles.
Introduction of new programmes and teledaramas with Binara Peraliya
is considered to be a turning point of Jathika Rupavahini which will
provide Sri Lankans a better meaningful and realistic approach to the
television. |
