Brawl ends in nephew’s death

A brawl between an uncle and nephew resulted in the death of the nephew near the Yatagama Railway Station in Rambukkana yesterday. The dead man was identified as HGD Sumith Tharanga (23) of Yatagama, Rambukkana who was pronounced dead on admission to the Kegalle Hospital.

The uncle and nephew had brawled on Sunday evening and the nephew had stabbed the uncle who in self defence had hit the nephew with a bottle.

Tharanga who fled the scene on a motorbike fell into a ditch. He had walked about 100 metres before falling unconscious.

Tharanga was later taken to hospital but was found dead on arrival.

The suspect who was admitted to the Kegalle Hospital is being treated under Police custody.

Rambukkana Police are investigating.
