World Young Buddhist Monks hold annual symposium

The eighth annual international symposium of the World Young Buddhist
Monks Organization was held at the T.B. Tennakoon Memorial Hall in
Galewela, Dambulla recently.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Prime
Minister and Buddhist Affairs Minister D.M. Jayaratne and Lands and Land
Development Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.
Around 800 monks from Sri Lanka and 50 countries participated in the
inauguration ceremony.
The first symposium of the World Young Buddhist Monks Organization
had been held in Kathmandu, Nepal. This organization was formed to
create an attitudinal development among young monks around the world,
strengthening the cooperation and relationships among them and to solve
matters facing young monks as well.
