Schoolboy remanded over fatal stone-throwing

A 13-year old schoolboy who was arrested over throwing a stone that
killed his classmate, was remanded until November 3, being produced by
the Police before Kegalla Magistrate Ranathunga.
Police said the boy was arrested in connection with "the fatal
stone-throw" that killed student M C Damitha Madushan (13 yrs) of
Rambukkana Parakrama Vidyalaya. Both boys were in grade 8. The tragedy
had taken place in an after school fight, police said.
The fight had erupted near Rambukkana Railway station at 2 pm, during
which one of the boys had struck the other with a stone, which became a
fatal blow. Damitha Madushan died after being admitted to the Kegalla
hospital, Police said.
Rambukkana Police are investigating.
