Thai delegation calls on President
A Thai delegation, including some members of the Thai Royal Family,
which visited Sri Lanka and participated in a Pinkama at the Sri Dalada
Maligawa in Kandy to invoke blessings on the 84 year old King of
Thailand, called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees
yesterday.
The delegation also included princess Somisuvale, a daughter-in-law
of the royal family and two bhikkhus. Ven Prakru Pisit Soravet Thera of
Thailand who was among the delegation invoked blessings on the President
and the country and presented Sacred Relics and several Buddha statues
brought from Thailand to the President, a press release by the
President's Media Unit said.
A member of the delegation read out a message of greetings sent by
the King of Thailand to President Mahinda Rajapaksa to mark his birthday
on November 18.
President Rajapaksa presented a Buddha statue and a special memento
to the Thai delegation and posed for a group photograph with them.
London Viharadhipathi Ven Bogoda Seelawimala Thera and Presidential
Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath were also present on the occasion.
