Another first by NAPSL

Open colour (first place): Chandrasena Perera

Amateur (first place): Kavindy Abeysinghe

Open monochrome (second place): Ravindra Ranasinghe

The National Association of Photographers – Sri Lanka (NAPSL) has organized the first ever local digital projection image photographic competition in Sri Lanka. NAPSL has formerly organized the first ever digital projection international photographic competition in Sri Lanka for their 30th anniversary. This year they have extended it to the Sri Lankan amateur photographers too.

Generally entries for the photographic competitions have to be submitted in prints. However following the introduction of digital photography most countries have taken to digital projection image competitions and in Sri Lanka the NAPSL pioneered the system. It saves time and money for the entrants and most competition entries can also be sent online saving the postage fees.

This year’s NAPSL annual island-wide photography contest was held in digital image projection system and veteran photographers Dee Ga Somapala, Henry Rajakaruna and Priyantha Amarasinghe served in the panel of judges. Out of the several hundreds of images received 150 photographs have been selected for the exhibition.

NAPSL has arranged to open the exhibition for public at the BMICH from November 4 to 6. Image Today is the largest Photo, Video and Digital Imaging international exhibition in Sri Lanka organized annually. Selected images for the display have been printed on Kodak high quality printing papers by Lakdam Digital Color Lab using state of the art Noritsu HD digital photo printers.a
