Jaffna special corr
Four hundred thousand Palmyra seedlings are to be planted in the
Jaffna district next year. Palmyra Development Board president P.
Jevaratnam said that the project to plant Palmyra seeds in Jaffna has
been a failure, as many seeds did not germinate. "It has been planned to
plant Palmyra seedlings instead of seeds." We have collected the seeds
and prepared beds for germination and grow them as saplings. It is the
saplings that will be planted and nursed. We have planned to plant
400,000 saplings in the district," he said.
