Ministry spokesman denies media report

‘Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Ravindra Ruberu denies a fabricated news item which appeared in some of yesterday’s newspapers regarding the Malabe Private Medical Faculty, a Health Ministry spokesman W.M.D. Vanninayake said.

According to Vanninayake, Dr. Ruberu has not conducted any discussion with any person and never promised anybody to provide a hospital for the Malabe Private Medical Faculty to carry out its clinical training. Dr. Ruberu had never conducted any discussions with a so called Director Dr. Sameera Senaratne.

‘Some newspapers carried a news item yesterday stating that Dr. Ruberu held discussions with a person called Dr. Sameera Senaratne and agreed to provide a fully fledged hospital for the Malabe Private Medical Faculty to carry out clinical training, he said.

‘The Malabe Private Medical Faculty became a hot topic in the country during the recent past due to its `unrecognized status’ among the health authorities, he said.
