Public speaking in youth formation
The Colombo Toastmasters Gavel Club recently held its installation
ceremony of the new committee 2011/2012. It was held at the National
Library and Documentation Centre. The chief guest was Hussain Mossajee.
President of The Colombo Toastmasters Club and many other influential
people were present.
The new committee consists of Aqla Mizver - President, Chathurika
Gooneratne - Vice President Education, Aswin Pushparaja - Vice President
Membership, Tarangee Mutucumarana - Vice President Public Relations,
Vithushan Vijayaratnam - Secretary, Kailash Sithambaram - Treasurer, and
last but not least Ravindu Athukorala -Sergeant-at-Arms.
The Colombo Toastmasters Gavel Club was incorporated in 2008 by the
Colombo Toastmasters Club in order to spread public speaking among the
youth of our country, CTC President Hussain Mossajee said.
The skills of public speaking form the corner stone in the areas of
verbal communication, and confidence building, an important area in
developing future leaders.
As said by newly elected President Aqla Mizver, ‘The Colombo
Toastmasters Gavel Club strives to build confidence in our members.
Making you face your fears head-on. As the country develops, our
youth should become skilled in the area of public speaking.
This will give them the opportunity to stand out. We welcome one and
all to join us.
