India’s SRM University launches in Sri Lanka

SRM Lanka and SRM Global signed a MoU to open avenues for Sri Lankan students to join SRM University, India’s No. 1 among private universities ranked by Education Times.

“This MoU will be highly beneficial for the Sri Lankan students seeking graduate and post-graduate qualifications as they will get opportunities for a wider spectrum of streams. As a result Sri Lankan students will be able to choose specific lines of education to develop their professionalism focused on interested specialized areas, and be able to reach the desired employment opportunities.” SRM Lanka authorities said.

The university offers all facilities equivalent to any international university in the West which encompasses their own hospital for medical students, and own Hotel for the hotel management students. The MBBS qualification offered by SRM University is well-recognized by the Sri Lankan Medical Council. Also this will open the higher education streams for the students who have successfully completed Higher National Diploma qualifications to commence their further education in the SRM University and they will be exempted from the first year of education making it only three years or less.

The university offers economical but special accommodation for foreign students together with dining facilities to cater to the needs of the international students which has been more than 30 nationalities over the years.

The authorities of SRM Lanka further informed the intention of making the presence of SRM University in Sri Lanka is to provide greater capacity in higher educational opportunities for wider spectrum of Sri Lankan youth and to make them enter the professional world equipped with, not only with a degree qualification but also with necessary skills and exposure which will fulfill the needs of the corporate organisations.

It is also the intention to create a knowledge partnership between the corporate organisations and academia, so that the students would get proper training and would know the latest industry happenings. Sharing of the knowledge between the two will create new linkage in the coming years. This will help the academia and the industry to benefit mutually.

Accordingly SRM University offers “Semester Abroad” programmes where students will be able to spend one semester in a university of choice in the USA, the UK, Australia and many other countries. In addition the “Dual Degree” programme will make them achieve two degrees that is Bachelor and Master Degrees in a shorter duration than the normal six years of education, and they may obtain the Bachelor Degree at SRM University while the Master Degree would be offered and completed at a University in the USA, the UK, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Japan etc.
